Dr. Aoife Doherty

Main Areas of Expertise Molecular Evolution, Ageing and Longevity, Population Genetics, Computational Biology, Computational Genetics, Evolutionary Biology, Cancer Genetics, Genomics, Peptides, Machine Learning Biography Dr. Aoife Doherty holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Evolution and Bioinformatics from the National University of Ireland, Maynooth. During this time, she studied mammalian evolution from a variety of perspectives, including phylogenetics, network evolution, gene duplication and the evolution of synonymous codon usage in vertebrates. Afterwards, she was post-doctoral research associate in the Institute of Ageing and Chronic Disease at the University of Liverpool, where her research focussed on understanding ageing, longevity and age-related diseases using large cohorts, gene expression data, single nucleotide polymorphism data and protein-protein interaction networks. She currently works as an artificial intelligence data scientist in Nuritas, a biotechnology start-up that applies deep learning methods to identify bioactive peptides in a range of therapeutic areas. Qualifications PhD Molecular Evolution and Bioinformatics, National University of Ireland, Maynooth MSc Computing (Artificial Intelligence) - Graduated First in Class, Dublin City University BSc General Science, National University of Ireland, Maynooth Reviewer Molecular Biology and Evolution Current Activity Data Scientist, Nuritas
